15 Years on the Sand: Sundays Beach Club’s Story Runs Deeper Than the Shore

Long before Ungasan’s cliffs held beach clubs, Bali’s southern coast belonged to the sea itself — home to seaweed farmers working the tides by moonlight, salt makers crystallizing grains under the equatorial sun, and the sacred purification rites of Melasti, where villages carry offerings to the water’s edge to restore balance.

It’s that same connection to the ocean that inspired Sundays Beach Club fifteen years ago, when its founders built a barefoot sanctuary above a secluded turquoise lagoon on the Ungasan cliff face.

On 19 September, Sundays celebrates its 15th Anniversary with curated performances, face painting, a magician, tarot, dancers, and open-fire culinary specials.

Sundays has also been nominated for Best Luxury Beach Club at the 2026 Exquisite Awards. Public voting is open now.
